Cooperstown Packs: Dawsons Achieved

I'll get back to the vacation posts shortly, but I just received a package in the mail that puts a nice bow on our trip to Cooperstown in July to see Andre Dawson inducted into the Hall of Fame.

As you might recall, while in Cooperstown, I picked up several packs of cards, hoping to land a Dawson, Hall of Famers or CMC set members. I landed Hall of Famers and CMC set members, but no Dawsons.

Now, thanks to Larry over at Emerald City Diamond Gems and Tony Gwynn, I did. Larry read my last Cooperstown post and saw the cards I pulled from a pack of 1984 Topps.

One of the cards I pulled, and noted in the post, was Hall of Famer Tony Gwynn. Turns out, Larry has the list of the Prime 9 cards that he would love to own on his site. Right there at the top of the list is the 1984 Topps Tony Gwynn. And I pulled it from the only pack of 1984 Topps I've opened.

I didn't notice Larry's list. But Larry noticed my post. Larry asked what I wanted for it, I suggested a Dawson would be cool, to fill out our Cooperstown adventure. Larry came through with 12. That's 12 Dawsons, from his 1981 Donruss entry to his 2004 Sweet Spot Classic, with the aptly named Cooperstown Collection mark on the back.

Thanks again Larry. Those are a lot of Dawsons to pull out of a pack of 1984 Topps. I'm also hoping to have another punctuation on our trip to Cooperstown next month. But I'll get to that then.
